Where It All Started: Cambridge, 2014
Skinvae’s journey began over a decade ago when Anna Hayes opened our first clinic in Cambridge in 2014. What started as a boutique space quickly became a haven for clients seeking both transformative skin outcomes and that little bit of calm we all crave. From facials and laser services to cosmetic tattooing and advanced skin revision, Cambridge set the standard, not just for Skinvae, but for skin care in the region.
Cambridge wasn’t just a launchpad, it became the DNA of the brand. It taught us that great skin isn’t a quick fix, it’s an experience that builds confidence and community. And once people felt seen and understood, they told others.
Scaling with Purpose: The Next Clinics
As demand grew, so did our vision.
Taupō - A Natural Expansion
In 2023 we brought Skinvae to Taupō, a natural next step from our Cambridge roots, connecting with clients across the Waikato who were already familiar with our work.
This new clinic enabled us to extend our philosophy of education, personalised care and long term skin health. Clients in Taupō now enjoy the same expert treatments, skin strategy planning and transformative results that put Skinvae on the map.
Mount Maunganui - A Full Circle Moment
Then came Mount Maunganui, when we acquired the long-standing SELF_ (formerly Mount Skin & Body) clinic, bringing together almost two decades of local history with our own approach to skin and beauty.
This location is especially meaningful - it’s where Anna herself first worked in the beauty industry and being able to honour that legacy while evolving the service offering has been so cool. That hard earned perspective fuels how we show up for our teams and clients across every location.
The Leadership Behind the Growth
What ties every Skinvae clinic together isn’t just top tier skincare, it’s the leadership principles Anna has lived and breathed since day one. From launching her first business at 19, to building a respected brand, to mentoring her teams into confident practitioners, Anna’s leadership is style is unique. She trusts her people implicitly to care for their clients, develop their skills as far as they would like to and trust themselves to grow and expand through autonomy. It's a culture that after 11 years is deeply embedded and enables us to continue to expand.
